All new member applicants must meet the following criteria as the initial steps to gaining full membership.
SECTION 1
To complete the first step in this process in ensuring that your club or league can be accepted as a full and financial member of AFL New Zealand
your club must be;
1. A registered incorporated society
2. Financial with no amounts due to AFL New Zealand
3. There must be a clause in your constitution that states – “that every member of the club shall abide by the AFL New Zealand Constitution and Rules and any other laws or membership criteria as reasonably determined by the Board of Directors from time to time.”
SECTION 2
To aid in the establishment of a required standard of governance in all member affiliates the following information and communication must be provided to AFL New Zealand.
1. An electronic copy of your constitution to be forwarded to AFL New Zealand
2. Names and contacts (Phone, Email and Postal ) of all club office bearers ( President, Secretary, Treasurer, Committee, Coach ) and any changes that occur at your AGM or as per your consitution. An attachment has been included to outline the format required immediately.
CLUB INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS DOCUMENT
3. A minimum of quarterly meetings must be convened with a quorum of attendance at each meeting as per your constitution.
4. An agenda and meeting date sent to club committee, members and AFL New Zealand for each club committee meeting a minimum of one week before the meeting.
5. An AGM date set and forwarded to club committee, members and AFL New Zealand as per your clubs constitution a minimum of one month before the meeting.
6. Minutes of each committee meeting and AGM to be forwarded to AFL New Zealand a minimum of two weeks of convening.
7. Nomination of your Local League Delegate and your AFL New Zealand delegate to be forwarded (included with committee details.) immediately.
8. All members must forward a one page strategic plan to AFL New Zealand that covers a time frame of a minimum of one year, with details on Funding, Participation, People, High Performance and Organisation.
On completion of the established requirements set out for new membership applcations as stated in the AFL New Zealand Constitution.
4.1.5. Any Club or Affiliated Body will be eligible for membership only when the Board of Directors has determined:
(a) That it complies with the membership criteria; and
(b) Whether it is a Full or Associated member."
After the AFL New Zealand Board meeting following the receipt of the application, the applicant will be advised of the results accordingly.
