A repeat of last year’s final. The team had met 3 times over the season and the Eagles had come out ahead 2 – 1.
This year’s final was expected to be a hard fought close battle between two teams who wanted to make a point. The Bulldogs were itching for their 4th title in a row – there 10th overall. Whereas, the Eagles were hoping to lay demons to rest and finally win a final - their first since 1996.

The Wellington AFL Grand Final held on Sunday 13th December saw Eastern Bulldogs win their third consecutive flag over Hutt Valley Eagles.

Wednesday, January 16, 2008 - Hurricanes Learn Aussie Rules the Hard Way in Wellington Darby
The Hurricanes might be seasoned pros in rugby union, but when it comes to Aussie Rules, they could still use a few pointers. In slightly wet conditions at Elsdon Park, Porirua, the Hurricanes squad went down 53-37 to a Wellington Tigers AFL selection.
