CAFL Grand Final Blues vs Cougars Sat 27th Oct Minimize

This Saturday at Northwood Park sees Canterbury Australian Football Leagues Grand Final Day.

  VS

The main game between the Blues and the Cougars promises to be an enthralling affair.  One point separated them in last years Grand Final, with the rematch promising to be as entertaining.  Having played each other three times during the season the ledger stands two/one in the Blues favour, however both teams have struggled to put their best team on the park in each of the earlier encounters, so it is difficult to establish a meaningful form line.

Umpires Mark Andrews and Robert Greenwood from Auckland have flown down and will assist in officiating in the two games

The Blues will go in with a strong side, with plenty of goal kicking potential.  Richie Marsden and Jason Hopkins have been the shining lights up forward and have been given good supply from an on ball division that boasts the likes of Bowden, Thomas, Beaumont, Lanyon and Apulu-Maeli.

The Cougars are likely to be without Middenhall and Ranno, however the likes of Allison and Hendry will ensure the slack is taken up.  The Cougars have been enjoying first use of the ball in recent weeks, due to the good work of their ruck division.  This should ensure the midfield battle is an enthralling one.

Like the Blues, the Cougars have plenty of options up forward with Dave DeCuevas, Day and Aitken all with reputations of delivering in big games.

The match is likely to be won and lost in the middle so watch this contest closely for a guide to the end result.

The lead up match will see Mid Ashburton Eagles take on the Canterbury Bulldogs with the match kicking off at 12.30pm with the main game commencing at 2.30pm.
